Dr. Gonca decided to become a doctor at a very young age and began her medical education at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in Bursa in 1998. After graduating, she received an offer from the Department of Public Health at the same university and worked as a general practitioner at Fethiye Health Center, the department’s applied training unit.
While actively working, she passed the Medical Specialization Exam (TUS) and started her residency in 2005 at İzmir Dr. Behçet Uz Children’s Hospital, Turkey’s largest independent pediatric hospital. She gained extensive clinical experience and successfully completed her residency in 2010.
Following her graduation, she was appointed to Balıkesir Atatürk State Hospital, where she took the initiative to establish a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the absence of one. She founded a fully equipped level III NICU with 33 incubators and 10 ventilators, provided nurse training, and served as the unit’s chief physician for one year.
In 2013, she transitioned to the private healthcare sector, working at Edremit Private Körfez Hospital. Due to her success in establishing the NICU in Balıkesir, she was offered the position of Chief Physician at Ayvalık State Hospital in 2014, where she served for nearly two years while continuing to see patients.
In 2016, she opened her private clinic in Edremit. In 2017, she moved to İzmir for her son’s education and joined Medical Park Hospital as a Pediatric Specialist. During her time there, she observed that many patients from Aliağa and surrounding districts struggled to access pediatric care, which led her to open her private clinic in Aliağa in August 2019.
Shortly after opening, the COVID-19 pandemic began. Balancing her professional and family responsibilities, she relocated her clinic to Bayraklı. However, following the major İzmir earthquake and significant damage to the clinic, she was forced to move again. She eventually settled in Mavişehir, where she continues to provide pediatric care in her private clinic at Park Yaşam Offices.
